DERA ISMAIL KHAN: JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman has said that Qatar talks were nothing more than waste of time as it had no agenda and the whole of the noise was made in the name of Qatar. He was talking to The Frontier Post on Monday during his visit to Dera Ismail Khan.
"Now I am here before you and I tell you that there was nothing in Qatar," Fazal said while replying a query about the recently held Qatar talks between US and Taliban.
He said JUI-F was with the Hazara community and it was JUI-F which called a strike against the ruthless killing of innocent people.
"We condemn it strongly and it is not the mourning of the Hazara community rather whole of the nation is equally mourning the attacks over them", Maulana said, adding, he had advised JUI-F Balochistan parliamentary leader to remain in close contact with the Hazara community and probe into the matter.
"I have told them clearly to see who were behind the killings of the innocent people and how the culprits can be punished sternly", Fazal said.
He added that he was ready to devise a joint plan for uprooting these types of incidents.
Replying to a query about the recent offer of talks with Taliban and APC, JUI chief said that he considered it a positive step. "We have always supported every step towards peace and opposed each step towards war" Fazal added.
He came hard over USA and said if US could talk with Taliban in Afghanistan why we could not do it in Pakistan.
He said JUI-F had called on a tribal jirga which would be a real representative of the people of tribal areas, acceptable to Taliban and the government as well.
"On one side the government is doing nothing, while on the other side the country is being bathed in blood, in that kind of situation we cannot sit idle", Maulana said, adding, the jirga had the efficiency to establish peace in the tribal areas and the country as well.
He also explained that the leaders of all the political parties would be invited to the grand tribal jirga and a joint strategy would be devised for peace talks with Taliban.
"Let establish peace in the tribal areas and than give them an opportunity to decide their political future by themselves", he said.
He also lamented over the change in the electoral symbol of JUI-F and said he was not ready to accept the decision of the ECP in any case.
"We have put forward a written application to the ECP in this regard and we hope they would not change it without any known reason", JUI chief said, adding, JUI-F was the first party to show confidence in the ECP.
"Does it mean that we were wrong in our perception of the ECP", Maulana concluded.

D.I. KHAN/LAHORE: JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has said the government is not taking seriously the offer of dialogue by Taliban, adding, the government is running the agenda of America and can not start negotiations with Taliban without prior permission of America. This he said while addressing a press conference after meeting with Pir Fawad Raza Zakori on Thursday.
He said he or his party had no contacts with Taliban but he welcomed the offer of the TTP and suggested to negotiate with Taliban through a grand tribal Jirga.
He added that some forces were trying to delay the general election in Pakistan, but democratic forces were united and would not allow such forces to delay polls in Pakistan. He also said some forces were trying to make controversial the Election Commission of Pakistan, but 'we will not allow them to do so'.
JUI chief said the name of Asma Jahangir had not come up for interim setup at any platform, adding, consultation among the opposition parties was under way for interim setup in Pakistan. He added, it was a surprise for him that main opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz seemed to be on the side of government to impose Governor's Rule in Balochistan, adding that being a democratic person, he opposed every undemocratic steps including Governor's Rule in Punjab earlier.
"Once again the sectarian forces are on the rise, and now the time has come that people of Pakistan understand who were the main force to wage war in the country", he said while replying a query about the killing of religious clerics in Karachi.
He also said that Reko Diq Project was important for financial improvement and mineral exploration in Pakistan, but foreign forces were trying to deprive Pakistan of its mineral resources. He added, 'the mineral resources are spread over 415km while in the international report it is shown on only 3km, which shows the ill-intention of the international forces'.
He said, "JUI will not allow anyone to misuse the national resources and foil all such planes of anti Pakistan forces".
Maulana added US and other western powers wanted to bring dictator in the country and wanted to derail democracy.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday has suggested the government to seriously consider the talks offer by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In a statement, the PML-N chief has said that the government should initiate effective and meaningful talks with TTP immediately. Besides this, he declined to become the guarantor in the talks. In the wake of past performance, the government had lost its credibility, therefore it was not possible for any party to be "guarantor" of government's conduct, he added.
He mentioned that dialogue seemed the best solution to the dispute with TTP as the war had brought forth colossal damages to the country.
PML-N strongly believed in conflict resolution through dialogue. Progress and prosperity was conditioned with peace in the country. Immediate efforts for peace were required, he added.
PML-N chief held the view that pressing the government for talks with Taliban after their proposal was not new as the Parliament already had passed the resolution which stressed to adopt all possible and concrete measures to solve the issues.
It is pertinent to mention the TTP had called on Pakistan government for pre-conditioned talks. According to details, TTP demanded PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan to play their role as guarantors for successful talks.
Chief JUI-F and JI had shown their overwhelming support for talks between the government and TTP earlier. Both the leaders were optimistic to resolve issues through dialogue and also offered to be guarantors if they were approached formally.

PESHAWAR: Banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has signaled for conditional talks with the federal government which is being considered as a big positive development for the country's law and order situation.
In a newly-released video tape on Sunday, TTP Spokesman Ahsaullah Ahsan said that Taliban were ready to hold talks with the government in spite of the non-seriousness of the government in the dialogue process, he added.
In the video, the TTP spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan and Adnan Rashid could also be seen. Rashid was released from Bannu jail in April last year while two veiled militants having A-K 47 in their hands were standing alert along with the TTP spokesman. The video was in the interview format in which an unidentified man asked queries from Ehsan. Sources told on the condition of anonymity that the video was recorded in Shaktoi area of South Waziristan Agency but it was not confirmed through independent sources.
Ehsan said that discussion with the government was only possible if Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman or Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan gave guarantee.
He also appreciated the efforts of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan saying he (Dr Qadeer) had done well for Islam and Pakistan. Dr Abdul Qadeer's name could also be considered for discussion, the spokesman said.
"We do all these for the sake of Islam and Pakistan but it seems that the government is not serious in its attitude regarding talks with TTP", Ehsan blamed, adding, before conducting talks the government should release our fellows arrested in Swat during the peace talks.
Ehsan also demanded release of Molvi Umar and Maulana Mehmood saying that both these leaders were their political heads and they would be part of the peace talks' team.
The TTP spokesman said the abducted VC Ajmal Khan would soon be released as he claimed talks were underway with the government.
He said they would revenge the death of Kasab from India.
"We have become a popular movement and our activists are present everywhere in the Subcontinent", Ehsan claimed.
The escaped TTP leader Adnan Rashid also spoke on the occasion and said if Pakistan army came to the right track, he was ready to join it again.
Ehsan further said that the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was responsible for the killings of religious scholars in Karachi and warned that the killers would be sternly dealt with.
Ehsan also advised the journalists not to become party in the war rather appealed them to use their pens for the uplift of the virtuous acts.
The TTP spokesman also discarded the rumors of differences between Hakimullah Mehsud and Waliur Rehman and said there were no differences between both the top TTP leaders.
Meanwhile, responding to the statement of the TTP spokesman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said dialogue with terrorists was the top most priority of the government for durable peace in the region.
He said that before starting dialogue process with the terrorists, provincial government would convene all parties' conference with the sole aim to devise a future plan of action in consent with all the political forces.
He said that contacts with all political parties had been completed and excluding one party all had expressed their consent for participation. He hoped that after completion of this process, the Taliban would also form a powerful body for dialogue.
He said that the president, the federal government and the army chief would also be taken on board on this process. He said that the dialogue meant to give a safe passage to the terrorists and bring them into the mainstream of the country.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Deputy Speaker of National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi revealed that he was not consulted during the formation of commission for Seraiki Province while the people of DI Khan and Tank were also seeking independence from Peshawar as the south Punjab people want from Lahore.
The formation of Seraiki Province and inclusion of DI Khan and Tank in it was their democratic right while he was totally underestimated during the formation of commission for Seraiki Province, said DS Faisal Karim Kundi in his address to division people's secretariat, activists of PPP and other delegation. Criticizing the JUI-F parliamentarians for walking out from the parliament over the imposition of governor rule in Balochistan, Kundi said it was the undemocratic process.
Federal government dissolved the Balochistan assembly after the 85 dead bodies were kept on the road who were killed in explosion while recently the peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also deteriorating, PPP leader clarified. Why JUI-F was not raising voice for uncertainty underway in KP, DS asked. The KP government had adopted biased attitude against the DI Khan and Tank, that's why their people were willing to merge in Seraiki Province, Kundi said
Alleging the KP government of suspending 1613 teachers on the basis of prejudice, he said and adding there was no resources with DI Khan TMA and the employees of Tank TMA were waiting for the last six months to receive salaries, while there was millions of a fund with government for Charsada, Mardan, Sawabi and Peshawar TMAs. Neither the provincial government had issued funds for those persons killed and injured in explosions in DI Khan nor provided health facilities to them, PPP leader alleged.
Talking about the uncertainty in Karachi, Kundi said PPP was working day and night to normalize the condition and their party had always served the people. He vowed to continue struggle for the inclusion of DI Khan and Tank in Seraiki province and saying that they would also carry on facilitating the people of the country.

ISLAMABAD/DI Khan: World Food Program (WFP) Pakistan spokesperson Amjad Jamal on Thursday said that the WFP had reduced the ration quota of the Mehsud tribe's Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from South Waziristan Agency due to the shortage of funds.
The spokesperson told that WFP had reduced the flour quota to 50 percent and now the IDPs could get 40 kgs flour per family which was 80 kgs before the WFP took decision to cut the quantity because of unavailability of funds. He said that the quota of other commodities would not be changed.
Amjad Jamal told that WFP was in contact with donors to get funds for the project as early as possible. "If we succeed in getting funds at the earliest, the IDPs will get same 80 kgs of flour from March," he added.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that the IDP's including elders of the tribe, youth and political activists from SWA staged a hunger strike for an indefinite period for the last seven days against the WFP decision.
The protesters were lying hungry and thirsty for last seven days but no representative of the government bothered to contact them to address the issue. They threatened to hold violent demonstrations if the government did not address their issues soon.
Earlier on Wednesday, the peaceful protesters had also refused to accept food rations from the WFP when WFP DI Khan Manager Rehmat Wali informed the IDPs committee comprising 12 elder members of Mehsud tribe that due to shortage of funds WFP cut the ration scale and would give half of ration as compared to previous scale.
Furthermore when this scribe contacted Senator Muhammad Saleh Shah he told that the government authorities had assured him to give 1 lakh and 58 thousands tons of wheat for the IDPs. He said that the new quantity of wheat would be available within next 15 days. He also expressed his reservations about the WFP claim of funds shortage and said that WFP was an international organization and it should not reduce the quota due to fund shortage.
