DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Political Administration of South Waziristan called upon a Jirga of Meshud Tribes, locally called as dray Mehsud, in Political Compound Tank on Wednesday and demanded of the tribes to take action for the release of the kidnapped workers of WAPDA from Gomal Zam Dam.
Elders of the Jirga told the political agent that they were living as IDPs in the Districts of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan. Being displaced from their homes in South Waziristan the clauses of the collective and territorial responsibilities of FCR could not be applied to them.
The Jirga further told the political administration that on one hand the Mehsud tribes had to face a lot of problems and passing through difficult situations but the government instead of solving the problems of the tribes was asking them to solve the problems of the government. "We can appeal to the abductors for the release of the kidnapees but cannot order them as a tribe as we are scattered and living in dilapidated conditions" Jirga replied the political Agent South Waziristan in response to his demand.
Shahidullah Khan, PA South Waziristan also demanded to ensure peace on the Gomel Zam road linking Wana with Dera Ismail khan via Tank as to quote him 'incidents of loot and plunder happens on this road'.
He also warned Mehsud Tribes of stern action against them under the collective and territorial responsibilities clause of the FCR
The Jirga in response to the threats of the PA chellanged him to show them proofs of involvement of Mehsuds in any kind of crimes if he has any.
" We want to live peacefully in the down districts as we are passing through an age of turmoil and mental torture" said the Jirga members unanimously.
After the exchange of the arguments the poltical agent and the Jirga members agreed upon the formation of a committee to be comprised of Mehsuds and Wazirs from Ahmad Zai tribe who will work to remove the mistrust between the two sister tribes and try to solve the issues raised by the administration.
