LADHA: Political administration of South Waziristan started a crackdown against Mehsud tribe following the kidnapping of Gomal Zam Dam workers several months ago.
The administration on Friday arrested around 25 people of Mehsud tribes under FCR clause of collective responsibility. All the markets and business centers of Mehsud tribe were also sealed and several vehicles were taken into custody. An official informed that more raids would be conducted and would continue till the safe recovery of the abductees.
It is pertinent to mention here that eight workers of Gomal Zam Dam were abducted by unidentified people a few months ago. While the banned outfit TTP claimed that they had kidnapped the workers the political agent of the area, Shahidullah Khan, demanded of the Mehsud tribesmen to help release the kidnapped workers of the Gomal Zam Dam. The tribesmen, however, rejected the demand and said that people of Mehsud tribe were living as IDPS in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan and were unable to get in touch with the kidnappers.
The Political administration formed a nine-member committee for negotiation with the kidnappers but to no avail so far.
