Farooq Mehsud
D.I.KHAN: A grand Jirga of the Dottani and Suleman Khel tribes of Tehsil Toi Khula of Wana sub-division in South Waziristan held in Dera Ismail
Khan on Saturday wherein a good number of both the sister tribes of SWA elders participated. The Jirga was aimed to demand their share in the Annual Development program (ADP) like Mehsud and Wazir tribes of South Waziristan.
Elders of the Jirga Malik Razaq, Malik Azam khan, Malik Feroz khan and Malik Muhammad Noor while speaking on the occasion said that a part of the Annual Development Program (ADP) to be allotted for Tehsil Toi Khula of Wana, as thousands of Dottani and Suleman Khels are residing there and remained backward due to the negligence and discriminatory treatment of the government towards them.
They explained there was no existence of basic facilities like education, health and communications in their area.
"We have been kept deprived of our basic rights since the pre independence era but even after independence, we have not been given the status of regular residents of the area" said Malik Abdur Razaq adding that their new generation was going to grow illiterate as there was no functional government middle and high School in Tehsil Toi Khula.
They demanded of the political administration to set up schools and hospitals in Zermilen , Gull Kuch, and Toi Khula aprt from other basic necessities of life.
"We are human beings in the same way as the other residents of the area claim and we should be treated at par with them" said Malik Azam Khan while lamenting the dilapidated conditions of their area.
The speakers reminded that when Owais Ahmad Ghani was governor of KP, he promised to allocate 100 million each year to bring their areas at par with the other areas of SWA but still they were being neglected and treated as 'Zemis'.
The Jirga said, they have also rendered countless sacrifices for Pakistan and protected the Western border of Pakistan, but in return they were given nothing, adding that Dottani and Suleman khel were the most peaceful and land loving people in the whole of the tribal area. The Jirga also demanded to upgrade Tehsil Toi Khulla to the status of sub-division and give Zermalin, Gull Kuch as Tehsil level.
The Jirga unanimously decided if the government did not show positive response towards their demands, they would not hesitate to come on roads and observe a sit-in in front of Governor House and the parliament in Islamabad. They also threatened to migrate to Afghanistan if their demands were not fulfilled after their protest movement.
